We have received reports from KCC of cold-calling salesman offering home wares (such as dusters) to residents in Kent.

Follow this advice from Kent Police:

  • Be cautious about who you open your door to.
  • If you do answer the door - use extra security measures like door chains and spyholes. If a caller is genuine, they will not mind you doing this.
  • Suspicious of a cold caller? contact Kent Police on 101 or dial 999 if a crime is in progress.
  • For free advice, contact Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133
Further advice:
If you have any doubts about whether a caller is genuine, ask them to leave and come back later when someone else is with you.

Don't be afraid to turn people away and always ensure that rear doors and windows are shut and locked when answering your front door.

Please warn family members, friends and neighbours in the area!
