Roads and Traffic

Potholes

Roads are managed and maintained by Kent County Council (KCC). To have any chance of having potholes repaired we need to ensure they are recorded on the KCC Highways online database. If you are aware of a pothole or other highway maintenance issue please check the database and report the issue if it is not already known.

Report a pothole or other highway maintenance issue on the KCC Highways website

Near-Miss

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council (TWBC) maintains a register of near-misses on the roads. A near-miss is any incident where a collision has nearly taken place on the road involving vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians or horses. Any incidents are investigated by the Community Safety Partnership and reported to KCC on a quarterly basis.

Report a near-miss on the TWBC website

Road Works

If the Parish Council receives notifications about road works we will share them in the news section of this site and social media. However, details are sometimes delayed which means we find out about these after they have actually started. If works are an emergency, the Council may not receive the information at all.

More information about road maintenance on the KCC Highways website.

Find details of planned and emergency roadworks on the one.network website.

Highways Improvement Plan

Parishes were asked by Kent Highways to put together a "Highways Improvement Plan" (HIP) - a wish list of road improvements - which Rusthall Parish Council completed in April 2024 and is to submitted to Kent Highways once authorised by the council. Submission does not automatically mean that the work will be undertaken but it will be assessed as to whether it meets KCC highways criteria and costed.

A summary of the plan and current status is attached
